An American Guy, a British Girl & a Story We Never Saw Coming

We’re Amanda & Wilson, the husband-and-wife team behind Sugar & Spice Moments, and if there’s one thing you should probably know about us, it’s that we love people. We love meeting them, hearing their stories, laughing with them and making genuine connections. We’re both naturally social people, so somehow building a business that lets us spend our days doing just that feels pretty perfect.

But Sugar & Spice wasn’t exactly part of some carefully mapped-out life plan. In fact, neither was us.

Our story started across the pond. I’m British, Wilson is American, and somehow an American guy managed to sweep this British girl off her feet. In 2013, I packed up my life in England and moved across the Atlantic to start a whole new adventure with him in Indiana.

At the time, I worked in healthcare and Wilson had built his career in aerospace engineering. Not exactly the obvious beginnings of a husband-and-wife photography team!

Photography, however, had been part of Wilson’s life for decades. He’s been behind a camera for more than 30 years, and somewhere along the way his love of photography and my love of people, creativity and creating experiences collided. Sugar & Spice Moments was born.

What started as an idea grew into something neither of us could have imagined. Over the years, we’ve met some incredible people, heard their stories, laughed until our sides hurt, shared a few tears and made friendships that have lasted long after the photographs were delivered. That human connection is still one of our favorite parts of what we do.

Then, in 2023, another chapter began. Wilson retired from corporate America and joined Sugar & Spice Moments full-time. Suddenly, this thing we had built together really did become something we got to do together.

And apparently we weren’t finished turning our lives upside down.

We had dreamed for years about living close to the beach, so in 2026 we packed everything up again, said goodbye to Indiana and headed south to Panama City, Florida. Sunshine, saltwater and a completely new chapter for Sugar & Spice Moments were waiting for us.

When we’re not working, you’ll usually find us near the water, exploring somewhere new, traveling, spending time with friends or hanging out with Charlie, our 12-year-old Lab mix and longtime unofficial Sugar & Spice mascot. Charlie may actually believe he owns the business. We haven't had the heart to tell him otherwise.

We’re different in plenty of ways, which is probably one of the reasons we work so well together. Wilson is the photographer and the technical brain behind the camera. I’m the Creative Director, the organizer, the talker and, more often than not, the person saying, “I have an idea…” while Wilson wonders what I've volunteered us for this time.

Through all the changes, one thing has stayed the same: we genuinely love what we do, but even more than that, we love the people we get to do it for.

We believe photographs become more valuable with time. They remind us who we were, who we loved and what our lives looked like in that moment. Eventually, they become part of the story we leave behind.

And perhaps that’s what Sugar & Spice Moments has become for us too. It’s part of our story. One we certainly never planned, but one we wouldn’t change.
